Frugal Microwave Popcorn

Microwave popcorn is so easy to make, but the price can be salty (ha).  Meijer brand microwave popcorn will cost you two bucks for a 10 ounce box.  Meijer brand popcorn kernels will only set you back $1.79 for a whopping 32 ounce bag.  Next time you are at the store, purchase a bag of kernels and make your very own homemade bag of  'air-popped' popcorn in the microwave.

Measure 1/4 cup popcorn kernels and dump into a brown paper lunch bag.  Tightly roll down the top of the brown sack just enough to close the bag.  Put it in the microwave, folded side up.  Press the 'popcorn' button, or put it in for 2.5 minutes.  Then enjoy your quick, healthy snack!

  3. You can also add a tsp of butter to the bag for butter flavor. It helps the salt stick.
