Around here Saturdays are for doing the tasks that got put off during the busy week. In keeping with that, here is the drain cleaner "recipe" that my husband uses when he cleans out our drains. It is not only much cheaper than the commercial cleaners you find out there, but it is also much safer for the environment. You'll often find that being frugal and being environmentally conscious go hand in hand.
Here it is:
- Remove the drain cover
- Pour one cup baking soda into the drain
- Follow baking soda with one pint of vinegar
- In fifteen minutes, pour two or three cups of boiling water into the drain (be careful), and the clog should be cleared!
He found this in a book put out by Black and Decker,
The Complete Photo Guide to Home Repair.
