Pirate Party (As Promised)

Here are some examples of our frugal pirate party.  For the food we served meat on a stick (shish kabobs), cannon balls (malted milk balls) and various other food.  Some of these ideas were spin offs from the Pirate Preschool Party that had been hosted at my eldest's preschool.

The treasure box present holder made out of a cardboard box and paint.

The pirate ship that was made from cardboard boxes taped together and painted.  Also note the paper towel tubes and flag that is just a painted piece of paper.

The sign that greeted guests.

Plain cake on a foil covered cookie sheet.

The finished product.  (Don't look too closely!)

The total cost for the cake (for cake mix and 2 tubs of icing) was about $3.50 after coupons and sales.  The little chocolate gold coins were $2.00. They really made the "look" and took your attention away from the cake!
The only cost for the decorations was in the paint, which my mom had at her house.  You could easily use markers if you don't have paint available.
The point of sharing these pictures is just to show you that anybody can do this!  The kids really enjoy being a part of this and it is very satisfying to know that you have done it yourself.  Use what you have around the house and let the kids get involved!
