Inexpensive Ink Refill

For the past few years around Earth Day, Walgreens has had a special deal on ink cartridge refills (one year they even did it for free).  Sadly, there was nary a deal to be had this year, and I had squeezed the last bit of life out of my two black ink cartridges.  Thus began my quest for inexpensive refills.

I found an A+ Computers coupon in the Mad Money coupon booklet, distributed by the Fort Wayne Newspapers through the mail.  The coupon was for $9.99 Ink Cartridge Refill (any color or black) with your empty cartridge.  The transaction was made extremely convenient (especially with three gremlins in tow) because you give them your old cartridges and you immediately leave with ready-to-go, pre-filled ones.  They also have this price listed on their price flyer.

They also have an Ink Club Refill Card that gets stamped with every refill.  After you purchase 10 refills, you get one free!  It will take me 4 years to earn my free one, but the prospect is exciting nonetheless.

  1. Refillable cartridges are the most advisable of all. Not only are they efficient, they are also very economical. They reduce waste, both chemical (what are the plastic cartridges if not chemical wastage in and of themselves?) as well as financial. You don't have to buy a whole 'nother set; you can just use what you have and then replenish. Which is, of course, in synch with the principle of sustainability.
