Once cooked, I store my beans in flattened zippered baggies in the freezer. They take up much less room this way. When I am planning to use the beans in a dinner, I simply remove the bag in the morning and they are thawed by the evening. If you forget (I have), you can just cut the bag open and put the frozen beans in a microwave safe container to defrost.
Also, the website wisebread.com provides great instructions on how to cook the beans. There is a quick soak and an overnight soaking method.
