Ha! That got your attention, didn't it? I am referencing keeping your baby's gender a secret until it is born! How is this related to frugality, you ask? Let me tell you...
If you are thinking of having more than one child, you might consider keeping the baby's gender to yourself, or at least not put gender exclusive items on your registry wish list. This way, when your second bundle of joy arrives as a different version, you aren't having to buy everything new, from the stroller right down to the pacifiers.
Believe me, I understand the excitement of a new parent wanting the new and best for each kid, but from a frugal perspective, this isn't a reality. I know, we frugal types have taken ALL of the fun out of everything! It doesn't mean that you can't find out or register for some items (you will get things when the baby is born, too.) You can't keep them gender neutral forever. :)
Might I suggest some alternative colors? I did red gingham with yellow walls for the nursery for each of the kids. My sister did a green frog theme for her nursery that was very cute and could have been boy or girl appropriate. Sesame street characters also make very good gender neutral themes.
This might be a little on the extreme/bizarre side as far as money saving goes, but we frugal sisters are committed to 'thought-provoking' money saving ideas. :)
