Frugal Quick Tip: Use it Up
Do you ever notice how much product gets left behind inside packaging? There was a good amount of dishwashing detergent rattling around in the box that would not come out. It didn't matter how hard I shook the box or which direction I turned it. Finally, I ripped out the spout and tore into the corner of the box. I would estimate a good tablespoon came out. That is not a lot of detergent in the grand scheme of things, but why not take the extra 10 seconds to get the most product that you can out of the packaging? This theory also applies to toothpaste, lotion, shampoo and anything else you can cut open!

I store all dishwasher detergent in a rubbermaid pourable container. This way, there is no possible way moisture can get to it as it sits under my sink. The container was a couple of bucks, and I have used the same one for 13 years. I just tear open the top of the box to get every bit of detergent, and I never have any clumps.
