We are finishing up Fix A Leak week, sponsored by the EPA. During Fix a Leak week, they are encouraging people to do simple things to stop wasting water and save on your water bill.
- CHECK toilets for leaks by putting a few drops of food coloring in teh tank. Wait a few minutes. If the color appears in the toilet bowl, the toilet is leaking.
- TWIST and tighten pipe connections to stop drips or make simple repairs to leaky faucets. You may just need a washer and a wrench. Check hoses, spigots and irrigation systems for leaks.
- REPLACE fixtures if needed. If you are buying a new toilet, faucet or showerhead, look for the WaterSense labeled products in increase your home's water efficiency. New fixtures can quickly pay for themselves in water savings.
