Earth Fare, a natural and organic foods grocer (self-proclaimed, "healthy supermarket") is scheduled to open May 7 in Fort Wayne! This morning Kate and I got a chance to get a sneak peek into what the store has to offer. I am going to cover all of the details, but let's just say that you will not be disappointed!
The cornerstone of the company's philosophy is built upon the principle that real food never contains: antibiotics or synthetic growth hormones in fresh meat or dairy, artificial fats or trans-fats, high-fructose corn syrup, artificial sweeteners, artificial preservatives, bleached or bromated flour, or artificial colors or flavors. So, you can be sure that anything you select from the shelves at Earth Fare will not contain any of the above. I love this simple approach!
Earth Fare is also committed to buying locally whenever possible. Above is a picture of the local products that can be found at the Fort Wayne store. Our tour guides also mentioned that there would be more items available in the near future! Local honey, yum!
There is also an extensive bulk section that contains many different items. There is even a nut bar where you can grind your own peanut butter! I will cover ways to save money in a future post, but I should mention if you buy an entire bulk bin, you save 10%.
Another highlight of Earth Fare is the "Fort Wayne Kitchen" a prepared food area with seating to grab a bite to eat and hang out for a bit. We were told about Kids Eat Free Thursday Nights. Starting May 15, up to six children eat free with an adult purchase of $5 or more of prepared food. Kate and I are so excited to try this out, you cannot beat feeding a family of six for less than $20. Details can be found in the store.
