I know there are a bunch of teachers out there that are looking for free online resources for their classroom. My second grader uses SpellingCity.com to practice her spelling words. She loves doing it as it is an excuse to sit down at the computer. You simply click in the box for the individual word, and the program says it out loud for you. The student types in the word, and it checks the test at the very end. I do have her practice writing the words at least once or twice a week to make sure she is comfortable getting the words on paper, which is how it would be during the actual test in school.
