Another Frugal Way to Make Microwave Popcorn

You may remember back in March when we posted about making popcorn very frugally in the microwave by just using a plain paper bag that you folded over to keep the 1/4 cup of kernels in and popped according to your microwave's specifications.  If you missed that, you can go here to check it out.
In my Good Housekeeping magazine (one of the freebies that I have signed up for, you can get Baby Talk Magazine for free right now by going here.) last month, there was a suggestion for another way to make frugal and healthy popcorn in the microwave.  Here's what you will need:
  • Microwave Safe Glass Bowl
  • 1/4 cup popcorn kernels
  • 1/2 tsp. oil
  • Plate large enough to cover the bowl
Combine popcorn and oil in bowl and cover with plate; microwave on HIGH for 3 to 4 minutes or until there are only 3 seconds between pops.  Carefully remove plate and add whatever seasoning you like.
Another alternative to adding the oil before the popping takes place is to spray the popped popcorn with a little olive oil cooking spray and then sprinkle with salt.  Yum!

Myself, I am super excited about this idea.  I never had the lunch bags around the house, so this is a much more convenient option.
