** If you have a weak stomach or don't care to hear about cleaning vomit, please move to the next post!
My second oldest had a rash, fever and vomit two nights ago, so we took her in to discover she had strep. Unfortunately, a 3 year-old doesn't usually give you adequate warning when she is about to get sick. Audrey shared a seemingly fool-proof way to get rid of the smell from carpet and furniture (as her family has much more experience in this type of illness symptom). As manufacturers usually recommend, try this in a small inconspicuous area first.
- Remove/ wash off chunks.
- Generously apply a 50/50 water/vinegar solution.
- Top liberally with baking soda.
- Allow to dry overnight.
- Vacuum up baking soda in the morning.
Wow. It almost seems like a no-brainer to use baking soda and vinegar....yet time and time again I have mixed up concoctions of cleaner, borax, laundry soap and who knows what else to nit very effectively get the smell out. This - unfortunately- has happened to me soooo many times. I've also tried all sorts of things for nighttime diaper leaks or accidents and I bet this would work too. Thanks! :)
