So, This Isn't Completely Frugal...

So, my 15 year high school reunion is next month.  It is being held at a reasonably fancy country club here in town and that means a dress code to go with it.  (Not a stated one, just understood.)  I will probably end up borrowing something from someone, because I wouldn't know a designer dress label if it smacked me in the face, but it got me thinking about something I saw in a magazine a while back.

Did you know that there is a website called renttherunway.com that you can sign up for free and pay about $50 (plus shipping and handling) to have them send you a designer label dress and even accessories for you to 'borrow'.  Now, like the title of the post said, this is really not the most frugal thing you probably have ever done, but I think it could come in handy sometimes.

For example, a high school reunion, fancy Christmas party, college friend's fancy evening wedding reception, etc. are all events that you might want to impress and need a little label to boost your self esteem.  :)  I guess there is also Goodwill, consignment stores and other upscale re-sale stores that you could try as well.  That also would involve knowing what labels to look for....

  1. I am currently planning a wedding and have heard they do the same thing for designer wedding dresses. I will probably stick to a reasonable item that can become an heirloom:).
